Application and Admission Requirements for the Ph.D. program

Accepted Programs: Students who have completed their M.A. studies (with thesis) in the fields of Political Studies, Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations, Philosophy are allowed to apply.

Required Documents: The documents below should be uploaded to the system (www.sis.itu.edu.tr) during the application for the assessment of department commission before the interview.

  1. Transcript,
  2. M.A. (with thesis) GPA min. 3.25/4.00 (82.50/100),
  3. Record of ALES, GMAT or GRE scores. Accepted minimum scores:  ALES (Equal Weight): 70, GMAT: 500, GRE (old system): 675 or GRE (new system): 152 ,
  4. Two Letters of recommendation,
  5. Statement of Purpose (1500 words)
  6. A copy of Master Thesis,
  7. Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  8. Language certificate. The result of  one of the following exams with minimum scores as follows:  İTÜ YDY Proficiency: 75, YDS: 75 or TOEFL (iBT): 90.  Photocopies of the scores are accepted for application, but original copies should be submitted upon admission and enrolment (Applicants whose native language is English do not need to submit these results).

Important notes for the applicants:

  1. Students who have completed their undergraduate studies outside the fields of Political Studies, Political Science and International Relations, Philosophy or Sociology are admitted to joining one or two academic semesters scientific preparation program depending on the decision taken by the program acceptance commission. One academic period consists of 3 courses.
  2. Applicants who do not have the documents above prior to the interview will not be interviewed.
  3. Fulfillment of the application requirements does not indicate admissibility to the program.
